"Tess" my new Art doll

We are having a gorgeous day here, although it did start out snowy. I delivered my new artdoll "Tess" and some new jewellery to the Art Gallery today. One more show tomorrow and then I'm finished, literally. I had thought of putting some things in the show in Haliburton but I wont be here when I have to collect them. " Tess", my new art doll, is only about 6 inches high, and she was quite a challenge, working that small. I have to get ready for tomorrow so will finish a few pendants and maybe another little art doll. She is half finished so hopefully I will get her done.

My Show

Yahoo!!!!!!!!!! My first 3 day show was a huge success for me!!!!!! As BB2 would say I'm chuffed!!! Our show was held kind of out of the way but the people found us. There were 8 of us and we each did something different. I made 4 sales before I had unpacked. There is another show next weekend for 2 days at the same place. . I have a show on the 17 and perhaps one starting on the 21 . I wont have to be there for the last one though, they will take a commission. Not sure if I will do that.
So I am busy claying and making jewellery, have to get busy on the Ornament swap and the Winterfest gift. I need another pair of hands.
A lady dropped the lower half of my secretive woman on the cement floor!! There wasn't a mark on it. Whew!!!! The lady nearly had a heart attack though. So off to clay!

Back from the Studio

I have been chained to my clay table for the last 10 days and haven't posted. Today I am done whether I am ready or not. We have to go tomorrow to the granddaughter's for Halloween, we have done that since she was born. We wander the street with her and enjoy her reactions.
Today I will finish what ever needs finishing and pack up everything for the show. I had originally thought that it was a one day show on two different week ends, now I find out it is five days over two weekends, yikes!!!!!!
Sure hope there is enough stock!
I have 4 girls in progress, they are small copies of what Gera taught us. I used a small liquor bottle , like the ones you get on an airplane. So far haven't been able to get the faces right, the girls aren't co-operating. I did start the Christmas ornaments, so far have only 5 done. Have to work on that next week. I really don't know where the time goes!!!!! It seems to go faster the older you get.
I was up early today, thanks to Sam, my cat, who decided at 5 am that he needed food. He walks all over me or chews on the electrical cord, he knows I'll spring out of bed for that one. That's not a pretty sight!! So here I am trying to get caught up with some posting. I am off now to finish some beads.

Saturday, October 20./07

Its kind of a miserable day here , again. Well at least it isn't snowing. I have been doing some claying today, doing more glasses and a small art doll. She's giving me quite a fight with her face though. I will just put that away now and just get some clay ready for the dress.
I'm waiting for my sister to get here so wont be doing anymore clay till tomorrow night. It will be good to spend time with her. Have to get back to my clay.

Gone Shopping

Good morning! I haven't been up this early in a long while. Sam, my cat had a hairball and he decided he needed me . Yuck!
We are going to Michael's today,I'm going to pick up a makins pasta machine. I use a lot of translucent in my beads and I'm really tired of picking it out of the rollers. I will see if the pearl clay is in yet as well and then run like crazy. I don't want to spend anymore than I can help there. Then on to grocery shopping as my sister is coming for a visit. Yahoo!! Will be fun.
I took my donation in to the Cultural Center yesterday , I sure hope it gets auctioned . Now I will have to finish my wine glasses, sanding and polishing. Not my favorite thing to do. Catch you later.

Tuesday, October 16, 2007

I haven't posted in a few days, quite a few. We have had company so haven't been able to use the computer. I haven't done much claying either, darn. Now I have to really get busy . My first show is Nov 3.
I have another wine glass set done, not photographed yet though. It's rather plain, various shades of black and white. I also have to do something to donate to the Cultural Center for their yearly auction. Always makes me nervous, what if no one bids on it.
Off to clay , have a great day!

Clay Day!

Today I really want to get a lot of claying done, ha, that probably won't happen. Seems I'm just not as fast as I would like to be. How ever I do have a batch of leaves ready to be applied to the wine glasses and 2 Santa's ready for their clothes. I sure hope it works out. I will post some pictures when I finish. Have a great day!!!!! Well here I am back again. I have just finished for the night and I'm quite happy with myself. I did wine glasses, a bunch of beads, covered a box, did some wineglass identifiers, 2 bracelets ,a necklace and put the final covering on a Santa Claus. Of course it all has to be finished but that's for another day.
Just found out we are having company on Sunday, means I have to clean tomorrow and cook, not much time for claying. Unless I get up at the crack of dawn, :0(
Have a great night!!!

Wine Glasses

Good Morning! It's a rainy day here, again. So much for walking, guess it will have to be the treadmill today. Hopefully it will stop and the sun will shine.

These are some of my wine glasses that I covered with clay. They aren't completely finished yet, I have to glue ,sand and polish yet. I have quite a few left to cover. I hope to mix some clay for a new batch oaf beads today as well. I now have 3 shows in November so I need a lot more stock. Hopefully I will sell it. If the wine glasses don't sell, guess what everyone gets for Christmas?

I am off to town now to do some shopping, it's a pity we have to eat isn't it. Takes too much time and money.

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving! We had family here on Fri and Sat. and we will be going out today for a Thanksgiving dinner. However before that I have to do some claying. I now have 3 shows to do in November and I need some Christmas items.
I had a great Studio Tour, sold more than I had imagined I would, yahoo!!!!!!
I had people even ask where and when my next show would be, I'm a happy camper!!!!
Our granddaughter was quite upset that I didn't have enough time to clay with her this weekend :0( I will have to set aside some special time just for her so I can do some clay with her.
Now to figure out what to make ,I will post some pictures when I get something made, hopefully it will be today.

Studio Tour

What a day!! Woke up to thunderstorms and a torrential downpour. Today is the first day of the studio tour, have to get to Peggy's and set up and put out the signs. We had to wait awhile until the downpour quit or at least abated some.

I had an awesome day! I sold 3 times more than I thought I would and people were asking when my next show would be. I am a happy camper. Now I have one more day of the studio tour, it would be nice if it was just as good.

I'm off to do some more jewellery. Have a great night!

Not a good day but it had redeeming qualities

I started this day about 2.00 a.m. , we had a cat fight outside our house. I was afraid my furry friend Sam had escaped and was into mischief , but he was safe and sound trying to see what was going on too. Then around 4.00a.m. this same furry friend decided he wanted food. He got my attention by pushing everything off my bedside table. When that didn't work , he proceeded to walk all over me. I finally gave up at around 6:30 a.m. We were getting up early anyway to go to Lindsay to pick up our freshly brewed wine, then on to Peterborough to get my clay from Michael's that had just come in yesterday. I had a rain check from when it was on sale. I had ordered premo pearl, and they had saved a bag of it for me. Alas, they saved the wrong one, they saved sculpey. I was a little upset after driving all that distance to find it was the wrong one.
The really bright note to the day was a dollar store in Peterborough had a going out of business sale, yahoo!!!!!
I picked up a lot of really neat stuff. We had a car full of grocerie's, wine, beads and all sorts of things to be used with clay.

So tonight I am going to try and make a Santa using Gera's technique. I have the perfect bottle for it , I hope it works out. Then I will finish a set of wine glasses, I just have to apply the clay and cook.

Some of My Work. Tuesday,Oct 02/07

Well I am going to try and upload some photo's of my work. Hopefully it will work but I only have dial up so it could take all day. This is a set I did using Helen Breil's technique.

The blue doll "Starlight" was made at Georgia Ferrell's Beek Lane Studio during Gera Scott Chandler's workshop. It was a very inspirational workshop. The red doll "Water Lily" I just finished. She was quite a challenge, could'nt make up her mind who she wanted to be.
I am slowly getting the hang of blogging, hopefully. I am going now to see how to add links. Wish me luck.

First Time

Well I did it. I created a blog. Now what do I do? I guess I will have to look around and see how to add photo's. I would like to put some of my work up here. I am a clay artist and I specialize in jewellery. Now I'm off to see how this works.
