Finally

Hi
Well it's only been a year since I last posted, shame on me. It has been avery busy year. I had my jewellery in the Lindsay Gallery for 2 months and sold quite a bit at the Marketplace.
We went to Cuba 3 times in the last year, Nov, Jan, and March. We thought we would go as often as we could because dh had a heart problem this year, he had 3 stents inserted in Dec. He is now doing really great. We hope to go to Cuba again this winter but will have to wait and see.

I didnt go to Morrisburg for our annual clay gathering and I really missed seeing everyone. I certainly hope to go next year.

I became a great-grandma again in Feb, a beautiful little girl. I now have 3 beautiful g-granddaugters and will have another g-grandchild in Sept.

I got my knitting machine out of the moth balls and am doing a small bit of knitting, guess I will get busy and knit for the grand kids. They have such beautiful patterns now.

I have to get busy and get some stock ready for the summer, the new colors in the clay are really nice, love to use the bright colors.
I will try and post pictures as I finish my jewellery.
Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!

Home again!

It's been awhile since I last posted. We just got back from a month's holiday in Cuba. We had a marvelous time!! Now it's time to get ready for the summer show's.
I just found out today that I have been accepted in The Lindsay Art Gallery for the month of July. Now I have to get busy and figure out what to make and then make it. I will post some pictures as soon as I have some made. I think I will make some clocks and and do some watches. I sold all my watches at the Xmas show so I will try some more. I have been asked for business card holders so maybe I will give that a try too. So many possibilities!!!!!!!!!
I have to figure out how much clay I will need too. Oh my where to start? Have to send in some applications too I guess , they better be done first.
Guess I will go count clay packages, have a great day!

Back to Work

We just got back from holidays in Cuba, where it was really warm and wet. It rained every day we were there, not all day though just part of the day. The swimming and snorkeling was great! We met some nice people although the resort certainly wasnt full by any means.

Now I have to get back work and get ready for the 2 Christmas shows and a show at the Art Gallery. I got my little studio tidied up today and made more room for working. I have already started on a box and some buttons. Will get working on them tomorrow. I think I will try to do some Christmas decorations this year as well as jewellery. Have to come up with some different designs. I will have to replenish my stock at the boutique as well. I will post some pictures as soon as I have some finished work to show.
Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there

Well it was a really rainy day here today and now its chilly. A good day to do some claying. I have been working on some new bracelets, the original design is Helen Breil's, it was in the latest edition of Art Jewelery, I believe. I have also been working on genealogy, getting everything ready for our family reunion. It's my job to send out the invitations and I have done that . I printed a bunch of books for the family , some genealogy charts that take our family back to 1500.
I am having a hard time getting motivated to clay, my muse is on vacation I guess. I think I might try some face canes, not sure what I would do with them but its a start. I almost forgot I made my first transaction on e-bay today and I won the bidding! Yay! Now to see how quick it gets here.

Have a great night!

Finally got my pictures uploaded!!!

These are the pictures of my new work, clay minaitures on a clay tile.

Twice in one day!

Hi again,
My pictures didnt show up so I will try again. These are my latest endeavor, miniature veggies on a clay tile. A lot of work but I enjoyed it.

I'm back!!!

Good morning!!

What a beautiful day today!! The sun is actually shining , for now anyway. I have'nt been keeping this blog up like I should . However I am feeling much better and my studio is finally spring cleaned. I like it much better this way, its easier to work in.

I have been working on doing miniatures, which isnt my forte but it is addicting. After I spent hours doing research , I really enjoyed making them. I made 4 tiles for a friend, they have tiny vegetables on them. I had to hunt all over the internet to get the right colors for them , I now have a ton of vegetable pictures.
I now have to get busy and make some new jewelery for the Artisan's Marketplace and for the show this summer Art in the Village.

I am posting pictures of my finished tiles . Hope you like them.

Happy New Year Everyone!!

Hi everyone,
Well its hard to believe that another year has come and gone. A lot has happened over the year some really good and some not so good. Right now my son is back in Kandahar but at least he got home for Christmas! For that I am thankful.
I will be on holiday for a month and will likely not be posting, not that I am that punctual anyway. I do hope to get organized this year for doing shows and getting a lot of claying done. I dont usually make resolutions but this year I think that would be a good one.
So have a great New Years and I will see you soon.

Shows and claying finished for 2009

I had a good year doing shows and with clay. I did'nt do as many as I had wanted to but it worked out much better than I had hoped. I was so pleased to have been invited to have my jewellery at The Lindsay Art Gallery, they are such gracious , helpful people . I was invited back for the members show which ends December 18.
I am really not quite finished with clay for 2009 as I want to make some pendants for Christmas gifts. I have some already cooked , I just have to put them together.

We have had a major snow storm that dumped over 121 centimeters of snow on our little community. Dh has been shoveling and snowblowing steadily for 2 days. We could hardly open our door to get out. I havent seen the squirrels for 3 days, they usually come around to be fed at least once a day. I am going to try and post some pictures of the snowstorm and of some of my new jewellery,
Have a wonderful holiday season!!!!!!

New Show

Hi
I have been so busy lately and not just with clay. We have had a lot of company which we really enjoy and then I have had a show Art in the Village. This is to raise money for the health unit. We had more people attending this year but the sales were'nt very good. However I met this lovely lady who invited me to exhibit and sell at The Lindsay Gallery for a month. I could not believe it!!!!!!! And I had only 4 days to get ready for it. I have been claying day and night for 4 days. So today I took my wares to the Gallery and was interviewed by 2 newspaper reporters and had lots of pictures taken. Even though my knees were a tad shaky it all went well. I must say I am very tired but I do have to get more clay ready to go. So I will take a day to recuperate and then get busy again. Life is good! I am going to post a few pictures, I hope you enjoy.

Sam

Hi everyone,
Well this week has been a very sad week for me. My cat, best buddy, friend of 16 years died on Tues very suddenly. I am really still in shock , I cannot believe that he is gone, just like that.
He was not that sick, he was on medication for thyroid but seemed to be doing well. Although his appetite had declined somewhat, but then he wasnt that young anymore even though he looked good. We were together 24-7 so we were always together, he was left alone very seldom. He was there when I got up in the morning, accompanying me into the bathroom and sitting on the sink watching me brush me teeth Then on to breakfast where he always got fed first. He would then go my studio where he had a nap on his cushion on my worktable. We were never far apart , in the evening he would sit on my legs till bedtime. Everywhere I look I still see him and hear him. I cannot believe he is gone forever. Farewell my best buddy.

Home for a bit

Hi everyone,

Well I am home for a few days and then I go to my son's for mother's day. We started out our traveling with a stint of babysitting dh's granddaughter for a week. From Sun to Fri. She was amazing!! We went to the zoo twice, she just loves it there, too bad the childrens park isnt open yet.

I went to Morrisburg for our annual conference on Thur and left dh to handle things. He did a great job. Morrisburg is from Thur. to Sun. We had some really early days while babysitting and we started our days at Morrisburg really early too. What a great time we had!!! Great classes, great teachers, and great seeing old friends again as well as meeting new ones.
I met Sandy's mom who is such a talented lady, she makes wonderful flowers. I am already looking forward to next year.

I came away with a lot of great ideas for my jewelery, a lot of surface techniques, now all I have to do is get at it. I will post some photos as soon as I can, havent taken any yet of the things that I made. Needless to say I am kind of tired right now but hopefully will catch up with some sleep soon.
Better get back to work.

Wonderful Easter weekend!

Hi
We had a wonderful Easter with G's son's family , hope everyone else had a wonderful one too. Had a great Easter Egg hunt outside even though it was freezing! I spent time claying with our little granddaughter. She just loves to create and she is quite good with her colors.
I am still working on three ladies, I have one almost dressed , just cant figure out what to do with the others yet. I wanted to go bright but it didnt turn out that way. I want to finish these ladies before I get into making beads and jewellery. I am getting short on stock for the Artisan's Marketplace so I had better get busy.
I will be going to Morrisburg in a couple of weeks for our annual get together. I am so looking forward to claying for the weekend!!!

Back again

Hi everyone,
Well I havent posted for a very long time but I am back to try it again. I seem to be as busy as a cat on a hot tin roof but have nothing to show for it. I am trying to get organized for 2009, I applied to a few shows and hope to get accepted in at least a few. I do think that this year will be quite a struggle to sell. People are going to be hanging on to their money.

This year I will become a great- grandmother, that's awesome. Cant figure out how my granddaughter got that old! Now to figure out what to make for the new little person. I will have to do something in clay but I am not sure what to do.
This year I would like to try my hand at teaching but just havent worked up the courage for that so far.
Tomorrow I am going shopping for some containers for my studio, the ones you get in Canadian Tire, they are for nuts and bolts. I think they will be great for holding my findings and maybe even some canes.
Have to go now, hopefully I will be back sooner than last time.

Here I am again

Here I am again after many months of silence. I have been so busy with many things mainly family issues. Now I am back to doing clay. Yahoo!! I have had quite a few shows and that is new for me. I'm not sure that shows are for me. I do have 2 more shows this month and then I'm finished for the year. My next show is this Sat and then the next weekend. I hope to get to play with clay and make some new and different Christmas presents. I really like to use the mokume gane technique . I would like to experiment with it and hopefully will have more time to do this. I really like the way painting on clay turns out and would like to find out which paints work with clay. Better go now and do a little research on paint.

Hot Rainy Day!

I'm back again. I have been so busy and don't seem to have accomplished much. I went to Sudbury to visit my son and his family for a few days. It was a nice drive. And then we had our granddaughter visit for a few days. I also put in a whole new bunch of jewellery in the Artisan's Marketplace. Now I have to get busy and do some new jewellery for the August show. I'm thinking I should do something different than jewellery, not sure what . I have some half finished sculptures, should finish them I guess. Transfers on glass might be a good thing, I want to do some for my son. He takes marvelous pictures and I want to transfer some of his pictures onto a set of glasses for him.
I am just not very motivated in this weather and the clay is so soft in this heat. Guess I better go and get busy with something.

Back to Claying

I finally started to do some claying again, not much mind you but some. I have a sculpture in the oven right now, I want to do something exotic with her, not sure what though. It's a beautiful day although hot but it certainly is better weather than what we have been having.
I already have booked our holiday in January ,2009, in Cuba. It might be the last time we go , with the rising costs of gas, it puts the airport taxes up and by next year who knows how much it will be.
We are going to the city tomorrow to spend the weekend with G's family, hope the weather will be good for us

I went shopping yesterday to Michaels and bought a batch of clay , it was onsale for only $1.00,imagine. I guess I better get busy with dinner.

Back Again

I haven't been around much to do much posting, I have been so busy getting ready for my first large show and then recuperating from doing it. It was a cold and miserable weekend and the crowds were just not coming out. However I met a lot of nice people and learned a lot. I have another small show coming up in August and then nothing until October. I posted some pictures of my booth at the show.

I am a messy worker and my little studio was such a mess, I could'nt fine anything. I am just about finished rearranging my studio, so hypothetically speaking I should be able to find all my tools and such. However I have forgotten where I put everything. I guess I will have to get busy and do some claying so I will get used to it. I'm not sure what to do next , I havent thought that far ahead but I guess I should start. I think I would like to do something with translucent or some mokume gane, love that technique.
I have also been considering doing some demos but I have never done anything like that and I'm really nervous.
I better go and read my mail , have a great night.

Back From Morrisburg

Good morning world!!!!!
Morrisburg is over for another year, darn. Had a marvelous time seeing old friends, meeting new ones. There is such an aura of friendship and sharing there. Margi and Vio do a marvelous job.
I do hope Cristine is doing well, she took ill on Sat night.
Now its back to work, I have 2 shows coming up in May. I really dont know what I was thinking, but whatever it was it must have seemed right at the time. BB2shoes taught us how to do the porcelain look and I think I will try that. Got some great Japanese patterns from Georgia,so will have to try them out. Sandy used a stamp that was on the grab table,I loved the effects, so will have to try that. So much to do and so little time.
I will have to do better at posting, there seems to be fewer hours in each day but I will try.
Have a great day!!!!!!
